so ready for the weekend

Whew…this has been a week! People be crazy I tell you. Work brought a lot of that. One lady came in several days this week yelling discrimination, threatening to sue & causing a scene among several departments. Next was the ever so polite gentleman who left a post it on the front wall that said “BITCH” with an arrow pointing at the front counter. Really…how old are we? And if you have an issue with staff, then speak to our supervisor. Oh wait, she’s a woman too so you probably hate her as well.

I completed my 1st 10K last Saturday!! I was super excited to finish so well (1:20 was my official time). I had planned on just walking, but ended up running probably close to 2.5 miles. I still finished feeling pretty good so I am on track for the more important 10K the end of April now! I have been really good the last month about getting in my steps & being more active.

My mom came down to visit last weekend. We went over to Disney on Sunday for the Flower & Garden festival. It was a good day just strolling around finding all the topiaries & chilling out. Some good people watching too. lol We do laugh a lot I have to say! My dad’s knee replacement last month went well & his recovery is coming along. I am hoping he’ll come visit soon too.

Kickball playoffs on Wednesday started this week & people decide not to show up. WTF? You can’t use subs so we had to play shorthanded, but amazingly those of us that came gelled together really well & pulled off a win. I was surprised honestly. I think next week the 1st game is going to end our season regardless who comes to play…the other team is very solid. But we had a good time! We are trying to field our team for next season & replace players which is a little more daunting than I had anticipated. Obviously as we lose original players, I want to replace them with better players so I am being selective in who I ask. I’m really looking forward to kickball tonight! It’s gotten to be a really fun bunch of people who play & we have a good time.

So here’s a funny…one of the guys from Wednesday kickball asked me out for drinks after the games. What’s interesting is I have known him from our Friday night league for awhile, but we never spoke or talked there. I had fun…played some pool, hung out with other players, talked a little. It was very low key…in fact so much that afterwards I was like hmmm what was that?? I like him, but I need to see where he’s headed with this. I am done making the first moves! I think I just also suck at dating. It’s such a gray area thing it seems & I have become a more black & white person.

Not sure what the game plan is for this weekend yet. Tomorrow I would like to get a bridge walk in (I have been doing that the last few Tuesdays since I stopped cornhole), but my feet are hurting today. I had to visit the foot doctor yesterday & he did some work on my nails. UGH! I know in a few days it will be fine, but right now it hurts! I wouldn’t mind a little beach time, but perhaps sand isn’t a good combo for the toes right now. I have been at the beach every weekend lately so I am getting my sunshine fix for sure. Sunday I have been hearing will be crappy weather so stuck inside. Maybe a movie?

In like a lion 🦁

March is arriving like a lion. RAAWWRRR!!!

Life is going well. I am almost scared to say that though. My new year resolutions of ignoring unhappy people & getting rid of time wasters is working out super. I have been hanging around positive people & focusing on my needs. I am actually done playing cornhole for now which is a little weird after 4 years every week, but it was time to try some new stuff. You would think it would free up 2 of my evenings, but it really doesn’t cause I am trying to get ready for upcoming 10Ks so I am putting in more time walking. I do get home earlier though which is a nice trade off.

I am playing in 2 kickball leagues which is fun! The Wednesday night crew is fun & we actually have hung out outside of kickball so meeting more people is great. We are getting ready to end the season, but most of us will be returning next season. Friday night kickball just started & will be a good time. The bonus part–Joe the creeper couldn’t fill his team so they aren’t playing this season! And since I am not playing Tuesday cornhole right now that means I NO LONGER HAVE TO SEE HIM!!!! Isn’t that amazing??? That’s how it frigging should have been 2 years ago!!! Life is so good. lol

Work has been ok. It is more enjoyable since I am doing just my job duties. I feel less stress & am much more caught up. An opening in another department did come up in February & yesterday I applied. I don’t know where it will go or if anything will even come of it, but at least I did it! The job closes on March 9th so it will be a bit before I hear anything either way.

My diet is good–I hit 12 pounds lost this morning! I have been sticking to my food plan except for the alcohol (lol I know). I might try to decrease it a little more to like 1000 calories a day & see what happens. Just under 4 weeks left in the gym challenge so I am motivated! I feel stronger & have really been putting in effort at the gym. A few people who haven’t seen me lately said my shape is changing & I am looking thinner so there is some progress! Day 2 of the military diet plan

It’s going. I’m not hungry as others stated they had been. More just boredom wanting to eat I’ve realized. And is it the food I even want? Nope. Again just boredom. Which is good I’m recognizing it so I can try to control it. But I’ve been good—no cheating or giving up!


Again the only thing I subbed out today was instead of vanilla ice cream at dinner I had 4 oz of applesauce. I have been trying to drink more water which I know hasn’t been enough yet.

I weighed the same this morning as when I started. I did go for a 4.5 mile walk today so hopefully that makes a difference. I’m going out with my friend in a bit (just water & no food for me) so a little more activity tonight.

Looking forward to weigh in tomorrow morning and the last day!

Day 1 of the military diet plan


I made it! Actually I feel pretty good. I thought I’d be starving. To be honest dinner even felt like a lot of food. Granted I really haven’t done anything today (expect for the Walmart excursion I napped & watched tv) so that’s probably a big factor. There were times I wanted to cheat & snack but only cause I was bored (a favorite reason why I mindlessly eat). 

I don’t drink coffee or tea so just drank water & honestly need to drink more still. And instead of the vanilla ice cream I had Greek yogurt instead (not even the allotted amount cause I felt full). For my dinner meat I chose shrimp (got a great deal last weekend so loaded the freezer up).

I’m curious to see how I feel on day 2. I hope to hit the gym in the morning if I feel good. And I may go out with friends tomorrow night so I’ll have to really be aware of not mindless snacking!

So long wisdom teeth 

So as of Wednesday I am officially wisdom teeth free. It hurts. More than last time. I don’t know if it’s cause I was in pain for 2 months prior (and had an infected tooth) so there was a “relief” when the teeth were out?? This time I had no prior pain, but I am hoping it will fix the ear issues on my right side like my left side has felt since. And when I say it hurts not so much the tooth spot but more like my whole jaw area opening my mouth. I read that can happen during extraction if they have your mouth too open for too long? But it’s made for a good 2 day start into the new diet I wanted to try. 😂  My mom bless her heart came down Tuesday & flew back home this morning so she could take me Wednesday for surgery & check on me yesterday. I love her. 😍 I know we’ve had some very rough times, but I feel like our relationship is in a really good place! I wish my dad would have come just so I could have seen him but he wasn’t feeling good so didn’t want to fly. Which I totally understand but I miss him too. I have been trying to talk more on the phone with him so that helps. 

Which leads me to the new diet I’m trying. Why not right?? It’s called the military diet & is 3 days long. Supposedly you can lose up to 10 pounds (which I don’t believe will happen for me) although most people said they lost 7-8 lbs. I like that it gave very specific directions of what to eat & since I’m not eating much anyways I thought now would be a good time. Here is the Day 1 menu: 

See what I mean that it’s pretty idiot proof to follow?? 😜 That’s what I need! The only thing I’m swapping out is instead of vanilla ice cream I’ll have plain applesauce (yeah have had a lot of that lately 😂) which it’s actually less calories (I compared). And I don’t drink coffee or tea so just more water (I have been working on that the last few weeks).  I don’t know what to expect? Losing 5 lbs to restart my system & then let my body “adjust” to that would be great! But realistically I have no idea. I’m not exercising as much or even moving which is the key to this restart. It looks like they lower your calories to minimal (1000-1200 day) & if you’re still keeping the same output obviously weight will come off. Oh wow genius moment there I know! 🤓 These dental drugs are amazing! Hahaha!!!

The next 2 days of the diet look similar (I’ll keep posting). Obviously this isn’t something you live on & then the “off” days I’ll need to stay observant of what I eat, how much, etc… like I have been doing. It’s something to try & only 3 days so I can stick it out! I went shopping this morning (that was fun cause I took all my drugs before I left) so I have all the food I need.

Now to just get my sleep pattern back on track. 😴 This is day 3 of not working which feels so weird. Having had the long weekend & only working Tuesday & not going back til Monday feels like a vacation for me now. Except not going anywhere or NEEDING to do anything. I would like to work on getting my bathroom unpacked (yeah I’m slow) & reorganized so that can be my goal. 😎 

Feeling back in the game

I feel like I am getting back in the game again.

First my weight is at 168 lbs. Yay me! It’s been holding there for the past week which I think is a good sign. Obviously I’m still reaching for my goal of 160, but this is definitely signs of encouragement for me. Keep staying active & really think about what I eat!!

Next off…my dating life. It’s gotten a bit of a revival recently. Online dating is a necessary evil I feel to just try to meet more people. Where else can one go? As much as I do & try to spread my social circle it seems to be with a lot of people already in relationships. I have basically been using 2 sites (Tinder & Bumble) to find matches. Thanks to Tinder this week I have 2 meet ups.

#1 was last night after my cornhole league was over he stopped by the bar for a drink. His name is Mark. We had a very nice 2 hours of chatting & hanging out. I liked him & would like to get to know him more, but there are some obstacles. He works a goofy schedule (commercial pilot) which I totally understand & he also has 4 daughters ranging from 9-12 yo (a set of twins in there). So he’s pretty busy! Plus his divorce has only been officially final for a month so even though it’s been over, it’s now freshly over you know? He admits he’s just trying to get back out there & attempt having a social life with his job/kids which I appreciate his honesty. But here’s my deal…I know what I bring to the table. I don’t want you to be with me cause I’m the 1st girl you dated after divorce or cause you had a few weird encounters online & you think I’m really normal (yeah he said that lol). I want somebody who recognizes what a catch I am, WANTS to be with me & treats me accordingly. So go out there & date some other women so you can appreciate what I have to offer (sane, employed & financially responsible for starters which many woman down here aren’t!). He said he’d like to meet again which I said sure & to stay in touch with our schedules! So we’ll see….

#2 is happening tonight. Meeting for drinks. William is closer to my age. Grew up in the Midwest also. We have texted some, but I don’t know a whole lot about him so I am curious. Looking forward to it! Then I need to make an appearance at my other cornhole league which is having an opener meet & greet tonight. Honestly I just didn’t feel like hanging out with Joe & his partner Katie (shitty girl in previous posts) for a whole evening. It makes for an awkward time (watching her hang on the married guy is weird) & I have better things to do & people to hang out with. William is going on a work trip for 2 weeks & this was our only chance to meet before. Plus I’m crazy…remember? hahaha!!!

**only 2 more days til my birthday. Gosh that 40 is getting closer….
